Major Feature Updates

🚧 Spacesium Road Safety Compliance Toolbox (RSCT) v3.1.0: Smarter, Faster, Safer Roads

We’re excited to announce the release of RSCT version 3.1.0, the latest update to Spacesium’s Road Safety Compliance Toolbox—a powerful suite of tools that help mining, infrastructure, and remote operations maintain safer, more compliant roads using advanced geospatial automation.

This release marks a significant step forward in our mission to bring automation, intelligence, and compliance to road safety monitoring—without the manual overhead. Let’s take a closer look at the three major updates included in this release.

🛣️ Automated Road Detection

No more manual tracing. RSCT 3.1.0 now includes a new Automated Road Detection feature that scans high-resolution drone or satellite imagery and automatically extracts road geometries. This not only saves time but also enables near real-time updates for monitoring evolving mine or site conditions.

Use case: Spot newly formed vehicle paths or detect road erosion automatically after rainfall events.

🏞️ Automated Hill Share Creation

Hills, slopes, and drop-offs are safety-critical in road engineering—but capturing and modelling them used to be a time-intensive process. RSCT now automatically generates hill share profiles from elevation data, allowing operators to visualize and assess slope stability, safe driving angles, and terrain risk factors.

Benefit: Improved compliance with site safety grades and slope management requirements.

💧 Embedded Water and Flow Analysis

Water is one of the leading causes of road damage in remote and mining sites. RSCT now includes Embedded Water and Flow Analysis, which identifies potential flood zones, runoff paths, and water accumulation risks across haul roads and site tracks. This data supports preventative planning and informs surface maintenance teams.

🚀 Spacesium is Moving from AWS to Azure – What It Means for You

At Spacesium, we are always looking for ways to improve our platform’s performance, reliability, and scalability. To support our growing global customer base and deliver a more streamlined experience across geospatial analytics, we're excited to announce that Spacesium is migrating from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to Microsoft Azure.

This move aligns with our long-term roadmap and unlocks new capabilities for faster data processing, integrated AI workflows, and broader global compliance support.

Why the Migration to Azure?

Our decision to migrate to Azure was guided by three key benefits:

⚡ Improved Performance & Scalability

Azure’s global infrastructure enables better response times and reliability for our clients across mining, energy, infrastructure, and environmental sectors.

🔐 Enterprise-Grade Security

Azure's advanced security and compliance features align with our commitment to protect your data and meet industry-specific requirements.

🔗 Stronger Integration with Enterprise Systems

Many of our customers already use Microsoft platforms. Azure provides native integration with tools like Power BI, Azure Synapse, and Active Directory—making it easier to plug Spacesium into your existing digital workflows.

Action Required for Free Basic Accounts

As part of this migration, we will be retiring inactive free-tier accounts that have not been confirmed for migration.

If you are currently using a free Spacesium Basic account, you will need to let us know if you want to keep it active. This ensures a smooth transition of your data and services to the new Azure-hosted environment.

✅ To Keep Your Free Account:

Please email us at info@spacesium.com or contact your Spacesium representative before 26/07/2025 to confirm you’d like to continue using your free account.

If we do not hear from you by this date, your account may be deactivated as part of our system clean-up and migration process.

What’s Next?

We’re working to ensure a seamless transition for all paid and active customers. Most users will experience no disruption to their services, and in many cases, will see improvements in speed, uptime, and integration.

We’ll be providing regular updates throughout the migration period and will be available to support any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you for being part of the Spacesium journey. This is a big step forward in our mission to deliver the most reliable, secure, and high-performance geospatial platform in the world.
